Established in 2011
Chef Katie Button and Félix Meana founded Cúrate to share the food, wine, and hospitality traditions of Spain in Asheville. Their partnership brings together Félix’s Spanish roots and lifelong experience in hospitality with Katie’s culinary training, shaping the foundation of Cúrate and its continued evolution.
Félix Meana
Co-Founder and Chief Experience Officer
Félix Meana’s passion for hospitality began in 1994 while running the bar L’Hort d’En Minguets with his brother in his hometown of Roses, Costa Brava. He went on to work in restaurants across Spain before becoming Front of House Manager at Ferran Adrià’s elBulli, where he led service during its years as the world’s top-ranked restaurant. He later worked with Chef Paco Roncero and José Andrés, serving as Director of Service for the José Andrés Group and helping open The Bazaar in Beverly Hills and other projects across the U.S.
Today, Félix continues to shape the guest experience at Cúrate and brings this same passion to Cúrate Travel, sharing the food, wine, and hospitality traditions of Spain through meaningful journeys.
Katie Button
Chef and Co-Founder
Katie Button is a cookbook author, mother, five-time James Beard Award nominee and a Food & Wine Best New Chef (2015). SPANISH ACCENT (Fall 2026), Button’s second cookbook, celebrates bold Spanish flavors through a modern, personal lens, continuing the culinary journey she began with her first cookbook, Cúrate: Authentic Spanish Food from an American Kitchen (2016), which brought the spirit of her restaurant into home kitchens.
Button is the host of Magnolia Network’s From the Source and was most recently selected as one of 16 elite chefs to compete on CBS’s high-stakes culinary competition series America’s Culinary Cup, where she showcases her creativity, technical precision, and leadership on a national stage.
